No, a cat didn’t run across the keyboard. Toyota’s new and first stand-alone EV will be called the bZ4X. It is the first of 15 all-electric Toyotas planned to launch by 2025. Using the e-TNGA platform co-developed with Subaru, the moniker stands for “Beyond Zero”, as the firm begins a new chapter of zero-emission electric vehicles that will be sold alongside its petrol, hybrid and hydrogen powertrains. High cloud, a maximum of 22 degrees Celsius, minimal wind – by Gqeberha standards – and whatever breeze there would be, was a tailwind down the start/finish straight. Overheating, brake fade and excessive tyre wear would hopefully not be an issue. To offset the potential variance in weather and track conditions and give an accurate assessment of the smaller battles taking place within Shootout, we chose to run cars in their respective groups. Sean_Parker A visit to the BMW Group Classic museum is like being in a dream. In one closely guarded section of the collection, you’ll find some of the rarest cars to wear the blue propeller. I visited the site for the first time in October 2021 and had a guided tour through the series of buildings including facilities such as restoration, spare parts and an archive that makes up BMW Group Classic. Swiss–Swedish tech company ABB – you may recognise the name as the title sponsor of Formula E – recently announced what it claims is the fastest EV charger on the market. The Terra 360, which resembles a petrol pump that’s hit the gym, offers 360 kW of charge to one charge point, or 90 kW to up to four charge points; and this four-point capability is itself unique. According to ABB, the Terra 360 can fully recharge any electric car in 15 minutes, equivalent to adding 100 km of range in just three minutes.
