Caravanners and campers visiting Queensland, and those living there, will benefit from improved mobile phone coverage with 76 new mobile phone base stations to be installed or upgraded over the next two years.
The Four Ways Roadhouse, also known as the Burke and Wills Roadhouse, in Cloncurry shire is one area which will benefit from improved coverage. Other townships such as Injinoo, Ayton and Cape Tribulation, and remote shires like Cloncurry, Kholo and Wongawallan will receive improved coverage.
The news was welcomed by Australian Caravan Club (ACC) national chairman Craig Humphrey, who said the announcement was “a move in the right direction”.
“I look forward to the day when RVers can travel without the worry that in an emergency, they may not have mobile phone coverage,” Mr Humphrey said.
