MATERIALS FOR BOTH CARDS • Stamps: Paper Artsy JOFY33 set of 6, JOFY11 set of 20 • Card: watercolour paper, white • Ink: Archival Ink watering can • Embellishments: silver seed beads • Colouring tools: Prima watercolour pencils • Tools: Watercolour brushes, scissors • Adhesives: X-Press It clear gel glue, 6mm double-sided tape, 6mm mounting tape Beautiful METHOD 1 Lightly draw two 95mm x 55mm rectangles free-hand on watercolour paper 135mm x 95mm using a light grey watercolour pencil, overlap them as shown. 2 Stamp JOFY33 four tiered flower on the left-hand side using watering can ink. Q&A WITH JANE Q. I’ve been experimenting with watercolouring lately but my images always seem to look washed out, any tips? A. The most important item, whether you’re colouring a whole background or just a small image, is to start with good quality watercolour paper and mediums! I personally use 300gsm watercolour paper, it’s thick and doesn’t buckle with lots of water. Most brands have a smooth side and a textured side, it depends on what effect you’re after. Some paints will appear bright when applied but will dry lighter, so let the first coat dry completely then add another coat over the top for a deeper shade. Another tip would be to apply the paints to a scrap piece of card, let it dry, then add another layer of…

Sponging the edges of a die-cut 1 Die-cut your image using a ‘tan’ mat and layers following the manufacturers’ instructions. 2 Leave the die in place with the blade facing downwards, sponge around the outer edges using chalks or an ink pad. 3 Remove the die to reveal the outcome. Applying Texture Paste 1 Secure card and stencil to your workspace with low-tack or washi tape. 2 Spread the texture paste across the stencil evenly using a spatula. 3 Gently peel the stencil away from the card and let it dry. Copic Feathering Technique 1 Hold the marker on an angle, touch the tip to card then flick it outwards easing off at the end. 2 Create a block of colour with a feathered edge as shown. 3 Repeat on…
