Here’s one for you Triumph specialists! John Surtees raced with many marques: Excelsior, Vincent, Norton, MV Agusta, EMC, NSU, BMW and Triumph. But not this Bonneville. This press shot shows John aboard a trials-ready bike, we think in about 1960, with the Duplex frame, US-style ‘bars and quick-release headlight. The rear light and numberplate have already been removed, there’s Dunlop Trials Universal tyres fitted, high-rise exhausts, and lock-wired float chambers on the twin carb engine.
