The Classic Channel Regatta is a brilliant carnival celebration of classic boat racing: pretty boats, great sailing, great racing, great fun. Events are held in Brittany, the south coast of England and the Channel, and, of the 80 entrants this year, more than a quarter came from France, adding spice both on and off the water. The racing was varied: round the cans in Start Bay, round the rocks off Paimpol, and two passage races in the Channel. A team of volunteers led by Bruce Thorogood and Peter Costalas ran the overall regatta, with a team headed by Daniel Hue running the events in France.
