The Finger Lakes awaken in spring with a burst of light green buds in the vineyards, a rush of snowmelt over the many waterfalls and wildflowers awakening in the glens. Any season is beautiful here, but spring is our favorite.
The region, located in rural western New York, is known for clear lakes, cascading waterfalls, stunning views, fertile farm fields, historic places and small towns full of character and charm.
The region owes its unique landscape to the advance and retreat of glaciers, which over some time carved large, elongated holes in the ground that filled with water, forming 11 finger-shaped lakes. Those lakes are Canadice, Canandaigua, Cayuga, Conesus, Hemlock, Honeoye, Keuka, Otisco, Owasco, Seneca and Skaneateles.
