A short distance from Tunbridge Wells, down Tea Garden Lane, you come across The Beacon restaurant and rooms. The building has had a varied past, as tearooms and pleasure gardens, a bathhouse, a pub, and a hostel for refugees during World War II. Most recently, it was the beloved family home of restaurant-group owners Phil and Viv Cornwell, who made it a landmark destination for fine dining with stunning views over the Kent countryside.
Last year, the couple opened seven rooms at the venue, including six bedrooms decorated in gorgeous country-house style, plus a stunning summerhouse cabin with a huge outdoor bathtub.
