How long does caffeine stay in the body? To boost your riding, you’re looking at anywhere between 3-4mg of caffeine per kg of body mass. As an example, that means between 210-280mg of caffeine for a 70kg cyclist. These effects are at their highest when caffeine levels peak in the blood, which can be 15-45mins after consumption. Caffeine has a half-life of up to 5hrs, so if you consumed 100mg of caffeine, you’d still have 50mg of caffeine in your body after 5hrs. Time trial (TT) is known as the ‘race of truth’. It’s you and your will power against the clock. You may have seen TTs happening at a race circuit or bypass near you.
