Chris Fennell was finally crowned the 10-mile time trial national champion last week, five days after the event timing was scuppered by a faulty stopwatch.
When the times were finally worked out, Fennell (The Independent Pedaler-Nopinz), who has two previous silver medals in the event, emerged with 20.10 for the sporting circuit, based in Wool, Dorset. Second place went to Will Perrett (AeroLab-GWard Wheelz) with 20.18, and Richard Bussell (Aerocoach) was third with 20.23.
The organisers had in fact “offered” Fennell the win on the day of the race as it looked certain, even without exact times, that he had won, but he turned it down.
