Almost all of us know what the longest ride we’ve ever done is. You can tell how important it is to the selfworth of a bike rider, because most of us add 15% to the truth whenever anyone asks us. But fundamentally we know. 100 miles, 200km, Land’s End to John o’ Groats, whatever.
Mine, since you ask, was a 12-hour time trial, where I rode 293 miles, plus about 10 miles of warm-up that I did exclusively for the purposes of intimidating the competition. The competition, obviously, just thought I was a dick. (I’ve added nothing to this mileage – I can’t because annoyingly it’s a matter of public record, if you want to look it up.)
A related question that is just as interesting, but much, much less…
