I must take issue with Stefan Abram, and his opening statement of the bike test report of the Pearson ‘Summon the Blood’
He suggests that Pearson “lays claim to being the oldest bike business in the world”.
It is not a claim, it is a proven fact, and the Guinness record certificate confirming so is on public display in the Sheen shop
I well remember my father buying me my first serious bike from Guy & Will’s grandfather, (third generation), while I have bought from Roger Pearson, (fourth generation), and the current owners (fifth generation).
The year 1860 also saw the start up of Battersea Dogs Home, and Warrens Bakery in St Just, Cornwall, another ‘world’s oldest’ pasty maker
