With a raft of big names absent, attention turned to the lessdecorated talents at the National Track Championships last weekend in Newport, where many made their case for GB squad inclusion.
Among those who impressed were endurance athletes Jess Roberts, Charlie Tanfield and Will Perrett, all of whom added new titles to their tallies.
The trio’s strong performances proved that the GB coaches are now facing selection dilemmas, firstly for this August’s World Championships in Glasgow, and ultimately for next year’s Paris Olympics, where rider numbers have been cut from the level in Tokyo.
