1 Who ate all the pies?
Compared with Garmin’s previous flagship model, the Edge 1040, this new computer is a chunky Charlie. It’s bigger, heavier and less svelte, which could be a dealbreaker for some. Weighing in at 161g, it’s a whopping 35 grams heavier than the Edge 1040, and twice as heavy as the petite but immensely capable Edge 840.
The 1050 is also taller and thicker than the 1040, only by a few millimetres, but it’s noticeable. Additionally, where the 1040 is rounded and pebble-like in the hand, this new computer is angular and industrial-looking.
Does it matter? If you’re a weightweeny, then yes it will. Frankly, I’m not, so it didn’t bother me in the slightest.
2 Battery life is poorer
Comparatively speaking, the 1050 guzzles juice…
