We must start with a distinction. ‘Stockpiling’ is not to be confused with ‘hoarding’. Although, interestingly, this is a difference it is impossible to identify if you are only an onlooker. Or spouse.
There are several very, very good reasons why you might want to stockpile components, items of kit, or intangibles such as good excuses for underperformance.
The item in question may, for example, no longer be in production. A favoured pedal, or a model of shoe, perhaps. Something that works uniquely well for you, but apparently doesn’t work for anyone else.
Or you may have found a consumable at a price you’re very confident will never be repeated.
Don’t skimp. Buy loads. Under no circumstances work out how many of these things you might use in a year,…
