While a pair of eyes staring from the darkness sounds like the makings of a horror pitch, in Schim it seeds a far more charming idea. In an ordinary, orderly world drawn in neat ink lines and blocked colour, tiny, bug-eyed blobs inhabit the shadows of objects, people and animals alike, apparently invisible to all. Said blobs can hop froglike from shadow to shadow, but if they land in the light they plop to a halt like a fallen ice-cream. When your own blob loses its human host early in the piece, then, it takes a lot of hopping – and plopping – to get them…
