There’s a certain joy in one of the later sublayers of Bananza that hits differently from all the rest. Looking out over a part of the world we’re about to traverse, we see not an open playground but an abstract construct of pathways, arranged horizontally and vertically into a kind of assault course. While sales broke records, the Switch 2 launch lacked a certain excitement that we’d usually associate with new Nintendo hardware. The timing was part of that – the console arrived just as we all turned our collective attention to LA for the annual festivities – and the relatively low-key lead up to release.
