THE MAIN SEARCH FORM
1 Toggle between countries or types of records. Options for place include the United Kingdom, each of its constituent countries (England, Scotland, Wales, “Other Britain & Ireland,” and Overseas), Ireland, United States & Canada, Australia & New Zealand, and World. You can access similar options from the Search drop-down in the main menu.
2 Enter a first name and last name. By default, the search form includes name variants—nicknames, spelling differences, transcription errors, etc.—for your subject’s first name, but you can also ask the search form to do the same for last name.
3 Add as many or as few details as you’d like. You can search by the record’s year, the person’s birth or death year, and/or event place. Note: You’ll have different/additional fields if…
