I mean, the fastest models are even badged ‘Rallye Sport’, and have been for nearly 50 years! That’s right, without Ford’s involvement in rallying the whole RS brand may have never existed, and cars such as the Mk1 Escort RS1600 and RS2000, the Mk2 Escort RS1800, and the Escort Cosworth almost certainly wouldn’t have been built! PRODUCTS NEW STUFF LATEST GEAR ON THE BLUE OVAL SCENE REVO FIESTA & FOCUS REAR TORQUE MOUNT £100 (MK3 FOCUS) £115 (MK7 FIESTA) One area often overlooked when tuning cars, yet makes one of the biggest differences to the driving experience, is engine and torque mounts. When you drive harder – especially if you’ve increased the power and torque outputs – the engine moves around more. The OE mounts tend to be soft and made from rubber, favouring comfort and NVH over performance. This means they can’t control the engine movement efficiently enough during hard acceleration, resulting in axle-hop and ultimately requiring you to lift off the throttle in order to regain traction.
