I hadn’t heard of German Precision Optics until my friend David Fortier mentioned them to me one day. A short time later, I had one of their GPOTAC 4.5-27x50i FFP scopes in my hands for review. Opening the box, I have to say, I liked the inclusion of quality lens covers and a nicely machined throw lever. Let’s say you want a better Glock than the Glock you’ve got. To do that, you have to leave Glock and go to a company much more interested in delivering what you want, and I’d suggest Shadow Systems. A cartridge I feel is one of Europe’s best kept secrets is the 19th Century 6.5x55mm. Possessing a reputation for being extremely accurate, flat shooting, and having little felt recoil, it makes both a splendid match and hunting round. As a testament to its accuracy, the 1999 British Long Range Benchrest Championship was won by a Tikka Continental rifle in 6.5x55mm. Group size was 10 rounds into 4.4 inches at 1,000 yards. One particularly nice feature of this cartridge is its ability to throw extremely aerodynamic projectiles with very high Ballistic Coefficients and impressive sectional density. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit — historically known as anything but gun friendly — has ruled that the federal ban on gun possession by some criminals who have served more than a year in prison is unconstitutional.
