Q: I’ve been reading all about Foxtel focusing on satellite over cable, why the change?
A: Foxtel is actually focused heavily on streaming and satellite delivery, with fewer than 600,000 customers currently still on the older cable system. Interestingly, we are the only subscription TV company in the world to use three technologies: cable, satellite and streaming, to bring you your favourite shows, so we’ve been operating in an unusual situation. Our current agreement to bring you Foxtel using Telstra’s cable network expires in 2023 and, with the vast majority of subscribers already benefiting from satellite, we’re taking the opportunity to simplify things using more efficient technologies, like streaming and satellite delivery.
