Mark Lytle, who along with his wife and business partner Linda, owns and operates a one-skiff fishing charter based in the coastal burg of Pacific City, Ore., called, aptly, Pacific City Fishing. Lytle adheres to a simple mantra—“Every single day on the ocean is a gift”—that most would agree are appropriate words for a charter boat captain to live by. However, Lytle, who began his guiding career with waterfowl before changing horses to ply the waters at the mouth of the Columbia, the Willamette River and Tillamook Bay, among others, is no ordinary guide. He’s a doryman.
