No.3 FLOWERING PEACH
350-yard, Par-4
The strategy: A classic short par-4 that Dr Alister MacKenzie, the architect of Augusta National with Bobby Jones, believed to be nearly perfect in design. Thus, this hole has been changed less than any other on the course.
The pin position as well as the wind strength and direction dictate how this hole is played. The conservative play is to lay-up short of the four fairway bunkers, leaving a full short iron approach into a putting surface that slopes markedly from right to left.
In the right conditions, some players, like Adam Scott, like to take the driver, take the fairway traps out of play and get as close to the green as possible.
Scoring average (1934-2018): 4.08 (Rank 14).
