When asked my opinion of what is the best of the four men’s majors, I have no hesitation in plumping for The Open Championship.
In fact, the world’s oldest championship is first, and daylight a gallant second.
The U.S Open and U.S PGA have, over the past 10 to 15 years, morphed into championships that are very similar. The course set-ups are the same with long penal rough and tight driving lines, they share similar venues and, ultimately, the golf is pretty much the same. However, I have to add here that Southern Hills, the recent PGA host, was an outstanding venue which was both strategic and challenging, and this was reflected in the quality of the golfing spectacle.
