The nine-holer in Whitley, where Christ Church in neighbouring Shaw forms the backdrop, is a relaxed and friendly family-run club. It plays over flat terrain with some interesting holes along the way, among them a tightish par-5 opener that doglegs left and the par-4 2nd, where overhanging trees will interfere if you’re too far left. The thought-provokingly narrow 4th then offers little room for error.
