Q. A stray cat has sprayed my outdoor seat cushions. Is there anything I can clean them with so they won't smell? I'd hate to have to buy new ones. —EMILY, VIA E-MAIL THIS IS A TOUGH ONE: Cat urine is highly concentrated, so removing it can be difficult. If the stain is just on the surface material ("spraying" is lighter than urinating), fill a spray bottle with vinegar, soak the cushions and let them dry outside. If they still smell, urine has probably seeped through the material and into the cushions. If so, try an enzyme-based remover of stains and odors (you can find it at pet stores). Pour the product over the stains and let it really soak in—the enzymes should kill the bacteria and the odor—rinse, if…
