For me, the best part of Halloween is decorating the house. I get especially inspired and excited when I see all the amazingly creative, clever and beautiful ideas the GH Home and Design teams bring to our pages. Which is a better dryer, electric or gas?— LYNN R. A: I get asked this a lot. I assure you that both dry equally well, so it’s not a performance issue. If you’re replacing your current dryer, it’s easiest to use the connection already in your home, whether electric or gas. If you’re renovating, switching could be an option, but don’t forget that gas dryers require a gas line hookup, while electric dryers need a 208V outlet, and changing the connection will require paying a professional contractor. The latest research shows it may be beneficial to introduce the most common food allergies to babies once solids are tolerated (around 6 months of age). The American Academy of Pediatrics says this can help reduce the risk of developing a peanut allergy. Once you speak to your doctor, aim to include the food about twice a week to maintain a tolerance. For an easy intro, GH’s nutrition director suggests using peanut puffs. Using fabric softener is a great way to prevent items from looking worn, but be sure to measure out the correct amount before adding it to a load of towels: GH tests found that using too much could lessen their absorbency. Most of us have bad nights, but chronic insomnia is a disease. Insomnia is when you regularly can’t fall asleep, stay asleep or slumber until a reasonable hour, due to anxiety, depression, pain or when your sleep cycles are out of whack because of travel, night work or even hormonal fluctuations.
