More than 600 hours went into making each of these magnificent Wild Paper chandeliers created by Auckland paper sculpture artist Dionne Wood. An osteopath, Wood has spent most of her career gently manipulating her patients’ bodies for the better, and it turns out she has an affinity for working with paper too. When discovered by Liorah Atkinson and Michael ‘Midge’ Marsden in the course of a Sunday drive, Lyall Bay’s once proud Seaside Picture House was in need of some serious TLC. In the past, I’ve written about the impact of environmental toxins on hormonal balance for both men and women, primarily in the form of xeno-estrogens, molecules that mimic estrogen. There’s another impact of the modern world on hormonal balance, and that’s stress and low progesterone in women. Today’s world and its expectations are not conducive to women producing adequate levels of progesterone. The raw materials for our stress hormones and progesterone are the same.
