Upfront Kiln, designed by Melbourne-based interior design studio Fiona Lynch Office, is Ace Hotel Sydney's reimagined rooftop restaurant and bar. Reflecting Australia's culture, colours, and design language, Kiln features an inherently Australian palette, with the interiors skillfully tethered to the historic, urban Sydney neighbourhood that it overlooks.
As expected, the project exemplifies the studio's commitment to sustainability and multidisciplinary collaboration, with almost all materials sourced locally; Australian stone on the bar and floors from regional quarries, a variety of Australian timbers including Tasmanian huon pine, recycled birdseye stringybark and blackbutt timbers and, for much of the custom furniture, reclaimed Oregon.
