The .327 Federal Magnum Historical Notes: Introduced in 2008 by the Federal Cartridge Company, the .327 Federal Magnum was an attempt to improve the performance of the .32 H&R Magnum. Factory .32 H&R Magnum ammunition, as per SAAMI specifications, is not loaded to the cartridge’s full potential. This is due to the weaker H&R revolvers chambered for this cartridge. Cartridge performance for the .32 H&R Magnum can be substantially improved with handloads when fired in Ruger or Smith & Wesson revolvers. The .327 Federal Magnum takes this performance to a new level. This is accomplished by increasing the case capacity and loading the cartridge to a substantially higher pressure (45,000 psi) than the .32 H&R Magnum, which has 21,000 CUP. Where Criminals Obtain Their Guns As of late, the panacea to all gun crime has been universal background checks. At least, that’s the line sold to the American public over and over. But does the claim have legs? Not according to a recently released report from the U.S. Department of Justice. The multi-decade study asking criminals how they procured the firearm they used in their felonious misadventures found that “90 percent did not obtain it from a retail source.” You don’t say. So, if it wasn’t the local gun store, where exactly did these miscreants obtain a firearm? According to the study, more than half (56%) had either stolen it (6%), found it at the scene of the crime (7%), or obtained it off the street or from the underground…

Testing Wet Ammo I found Richard Mann’s article, “Tested: The Effects of Moisture on Ammunition,” in the February 2019 issue of Gun Digest, to be incredibly informative and eye-opening. His conclusions, regarding moisture on hunting ammunition and moisture on personal defense ammunition, were most intriguing. I get what he’s saying about hunting ammo being held to different standards than personal protection ammunition — but, after reading that article, I’m not taking anything to chance with any of my ammunition.
