BEAUTY MAKEUP I usually just do my eyes. One of the hottest beauty trends for fall, look-at-me lips, may also be the most intimidating. While some women think nothing of applying a lustrous cherry lacquer and walking out the door, many of us worry about looking like a clown. Or a tart. Or a clownlike tart. As I open my closet in the morning, I hear the echo of Diane von Furstenberg's wise words, "Be the woman you want to be." She of all designers knows what it's like to dress for success—at the office or for seduction. Who am I today? That is the modern approach in deciding what to wear. LAST FALL I thought I'd made a clever purchase: a pair of fitted black Gianvito Rossi ankle boots that curved, rather seductively, below the ankle.
