ON Saturday, October 19, Pathfinder Tours will provide the chance to explore some non-passenger lines behind Class 40 D345.
‘The Pennine Perambulator'is scheduled to start from Burtonon-Trent, with D345 piloted by a Class 37 hauling Intercity Mk.2 carriages. Heading north, the tour is planned to pick up additional passengers at Tamworth, Birmingham New Street, Tame Bridge Parkway, Stafford and Crewe.
At Crewe the Class 37 will run to the rear of the train, allowing the Class 40 to take charge over some passenger and goods loops, freight lines and branches.
After leaving Crewe, the planned route will take the train via Stockport, Guide Bridge, Romiley, New Mills South Junction and on to the Hope Valley Line to Sheffield. From here, the next locations are expected to be Woodhouse, Shireoaks and…
