Last January, the mayor of Jamaica, IA, was busted for growing weed in her house—18 potted plants in “various states of growth,” according to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office. LaDonna Kennedy, who resigned as mayor following the arrest, was sentenced along with her husband, Randy Kennedy, to two years’ probation. As the Des Moines Register reported it, the Kennedys were busted when members of the sheriff’s office called on the mayor at her home at 4:20 p.m. seeking a shooting suspect who was wanted for questioning.
