While a site survey checklist and client brief are consistently referred to in the design process, experienced designers are unlikely to be consciously ticking off the principles and elements of design when developing a concept. This ex-RSL Art Union Prize home had a beachy, contemporary feel, but was tired and outdated on the inside. In particular, the many brown finishes seemed to make the space smaller and there was plenty of room for improvement in functionality. The homeowners decided to renovate the entire home and saved the kitchen until last.
