Often, foreigners appreciate Italy and its virtues more than Italians do. This isn’t limited to the food, art and beautiful landscapes, but also design and architecture. Belgian architect Frederik de Wachter was an interior design student in Ghent when he decided to move to Milan through the EU’s Erasmus exchange programme. He was only 22 years old and probably didn’t imagine that it would become his city of choice. Upon moving to Italy, he worked for the architecture firm Migliore & Servetto. Later, he formed his own interior architecture practice (with business partner Alberto Artesani), DWA, which boasts a number of fashion brands among its collaborations.
