1 GROWTH MEDIUM In order to grow these waterwise plants successfully, you must use the right growth medium and ensure it has good drainage. WHO Anton Bouwer WHERE Graaff-Reinet From an early age, cactus and succulent grower Anton Bouwer of the Karoo has had an affinity for these plants. “I grew up in my dad Johan’s nursery in Graaff-Reinet. I was exposed to many cactus and succulent species and I loved helping him in the nursery. From a young age, I was fascinated by the shapes and architecture of certain plants.
