Lawyer Sian Bishop is no stranger to home upheaval, having moved every couple of years and completed a string of renovations. But this house is different – this house has developed roots. ‘The adoption process is lengthy and, before you even get a date for the hearing, you have to provide a photograph of you with members of the family, which goes into a book to welcome your child,’ explains Sian. ‘In our case, that photograph is of me and my cocker spaniel, Arthur, on the front steps of the house. This place is intrinsically linked to my son, Jack, coming into our lives.’
