Native and Mediterranean drought-tolerant planting – sea kale, foxgloves, poppies, valerian, santolina, lavender and sea holly – drifts through compost-topped shingle. ‘While the garden has evolved since Derek’s death, its theatre and high-camp remain true to form, all looked after by gardener Jonny Bruce.’
