We bought this used Bridgeport J-head mill for $1,800, then spent another $350 having it moved to our shop, $300 more to wire it, and then countless more dollars were spent on end mills, fly cutters, boring bits, and other tooling. The purchase price alone is not the end, but with a mill, you can make or modify your own parts, tools, brackets, and more. Search “How to use a Bridgeport Mill” on YouTube to see videos that prove you need one of these.
If you don’t have three-phase power in your home garage, you can still use a large mill like this one; a phase converter will allow it to run on 110–115-volt power—it just reduces the power of the motor.
