Now that the fifth annual running of the Bonneville National Speed Trials has come and gone, it has been pronounced another success. Cars were more plentiful, more states were represented, equipment looked better, speeds were higher, and, most important of all, it was a safe meet.
But, before any of us who were charged with the administration of the event throws his arms out of joint in back slapping, it might be wise to look further into just why these events have continued to be successful and safe.
