Thanks to Final Cut Pro X’s ability to work with layers you can add movement to still images and create animated sequences for your projects. You might not have expected the Clock app to receive any major updates – after all, what else could be put in it? However, Apple recently come up with a brilliant new feature called Bedtime and it serves several purposes. You can still connect your Apple Watch to an available Wi-Fi network and do anything from communicating with Siri and using Walkie Talkie to checking the weather and setting reminders. When set to Auto, your camera can struggle to decide which part of a shot is important. It may set the exposure to reveal shadow detail, causing the brighter sky to become overexposed. If the camera exposes to reveal the sky then the underexposed shadows can lose detail. In our high-contrast start file, the sky is overexposed with the shadows underexposed. Fortunately, the Photos app’s Light panel enables you to adjust shadows or highlights independently of each other. If this doesn’t reveal enough missing shadow or highlight detail then you can call upon the Curves panel to target problem tones more accurately. Upgrading to macOS Mojave is a no-brainer – it is a massive step forward in features and usability.
