Karen Read and her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, spent the night drinking at a couple of bars with a bunch of cops. Around 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 29, 2022, the equity analyst and adjunct college professor dropped John off at the Canton, Mass., home of another officer, Brian Albert, who’d invited a handful of relatives and law enforcement personnel to continue the party at his place. Karen, she claims, drove back to John’s house and went to sleep. But when she awoke four hours later and realized he hadn’t made it home, she frantically called friends for help.
