INK AND PAPER
Two companies, with printing presses across the country, work under the RBI to pro duce our notes and coins. There is the Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Ltd (BRBNMPL), with two printing presses, in Mysore in Karnataka, and Salboni in Bengal, minting 16 billion note pieces per year at each. Then there is the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Ltd (SPMCIL), formed after the corporatisation of four presses, four mints and one paper mill, earlier under the finance ministry. Both are now involved in bringing out the new currency notes
