FIREBALL SOCCER
Known as ‘Sepak Bola Api’ in Indonesia, a ball is made from coconut fibre from a palm tree, soaked in kerosene, then lit on fire! The origin is unknown, but many think it has been played for over 40 years. Never try this at home!
CHESS BOXING
A version was first played in the 70s, but chess boxing is now popular in the UK, India, and Russia. Chess and boxing alternate rounds until a checkmate, knockout, chess time penalty, or boxing decision (in a draw in chess).
SEPAK TAKRAW
The modern version was introduced in 1960, and it is considered Malaysia’s national sport! Slightly similar to badminton or volleyball, this sport is unique as players only use feet, knees, shoulders, chest, and head to touch the ball.
