Well, after a blazing summer and a mild autumn, it has been a frozen winter leading up to Christmas with things coming to a relative standstill on my plot before it turned mild again. The garlic is loving the cold of course, the spring cabbage seems quite indifferent but the broad beans, even under fleece (plus those in the polytunnel), have been drooping (hopefully temporarily). During cold spells like this it's quite usual to see them looking like they're on their last legs (or is that their last leg?) only to make a miraculous recovery when the weather warms up.
