Here, we look at some of the most commonly specified basins as shared by KBDi members Inset basins prove the perfect in-between for many. The key feature of this kitchen is the sliding pantry door, which, when closed, looks to be a continuation of the wall. This ‘70s-style home was previously broken into an L-shaped living and dining area with the kitchen as a separate room. Desiring an open plan to increase a sense of flow, these homeowners decided to knock down the walls to create a single, walk-through space. Integrating the kitchen from its own room into the rest of the house meant a fair amount of repositioning. Aside from removing the dining room wall, the sink area and an entire run of cabinetry were also removed from their original position below the kitchen window. The sink and storage space were instead integrated into the island, a new feature in this design. The owners of this new residence were after a sleek, open-plan kitchen that harmonised with the home’s surroundings to “bring the outside in”. This is largely achieved through the mirrored splashback, which adds to the roominess of the space by reflecting the green outdoor area opposite. In this renovation, the Designline Kitchens & Bathrooms team utilised their expert skills to incorporate a streamlined aesthetic while optimising storage potential. Ample cabinetry is one of the most noticeable features of this room, with the full ceiling height utilised to ensure all kitchen odds and ends have a place.
