Spring is a happy, splashy season, especially during Holi, the festival of colors! Holi is celebrated across India and by Hindu communities around the world. It welcomes springtime and new beginnings. When family, friends, and neighbors gather for Holi, they tell stories, sing, dance, feast . . . and play!
On the first morning of Holi, everyone gets up early and heads outside to play with colorful water and powders. They spray, splash, and toss the colors! Soon, everyone is as bright as a painting. Happy chants fill the air as friends call “Holi, hai!,” which means, “It’s Holi!”
Later, families will clean up and share delicious treats. But for a while, everybody is colorful, bright, and playful—all together.…
