although fashion designer Elza Wandler’s Amsterdam home took only three months to renovate, the thinking behind it had been incubating since at least 2017, when she first launched her sleek, sculptural handbag label, Wandler. With a love of aesthetics that ranges far beyond accessory design, Elza has, in that time, created strong networks with artists with whom she wanted to collaborate, and applied her creative eye to designing interior spaces to host her pieces – showrooms, pop-up shops, events and so on – all the while honing her design vision. So after Elza and her husband, Joost Doeswijk, bought their two-storey home, just outside the historic canal ring of Amsterdam, she was quite ready to make her distinctive mark on the place.
