Close to Vienna, and well worth a visit, is the Heizhaus railway depot and museum. Heizhaus (meaning boiler house) is also known as Strasshof, where it lies, and also Silberwald. If you are travelling to it, from Vienna, take train S1 from central Vienna, to Silberwald (approx. 8 mins) as from this station it is just a 5 minute walk.
The depot is huge. A rectangular 10 road shed, faces a great network of tracks, and everywhere there are locos coaches wagons, cranes, snowploughs, signals, everything!
