1 BREAST AUGMENTATION The biggest news with regard to breast augmentation, still the No 1-requested cosmetic surgery in the world, has been the concerns surrounding BIA-ALCL (breast-implant associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma), a rare sub-type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma linked to breast implants, with some textured implants recently being removed from the market. BIA-ALCL is very rare, with a one in 40 000 risk of developing BIA-ALCL with textured implants, but it is treatable if diagnosed early.
