I learned to quilt when I was just twelve years old, alongside my mom. Over the next two decades, I dipped in and out of quilting, reworking my relationship with it, depending on the stage of life I was in and my understanding of quilting. Now, as a 34-year-old mom who also works full time in the non-profit world, the reason I quilt has definitely become much more solidified: because quilting embodies the perfect trifecta of meaningful work. It is practical, it is a labour of love, and it’s an amazing tool for connection.
